Table Setting Ideas for Valentine's Day

BY MARTIN AMADO ON FEBRUARY 28TH, 2016

Valentine's Day Table SettingRomance can truly happen anywhere in the home this Valentine’s Day – not necessarily in the bedroom only. Here are some tips that will help you set the mood all month as you celebrate your love with your better half.

Instead of going out to a restaurant, let’s focus on ways to make your dining experience at home as delectable to the eye as what is on the menu… beginning with your table.

Whether it’s a romantic evening for two or an intimate dinner party amongst friends, a color scheme of red and white is classic. If you think about it, it’s a variation of the holiday colors we use to decorate our home in December, so if you were lucky to hit all the after-Christmas sales, you might be able to recycle the bargains you found on the Valentine-themed table and not wait a full year before putting them to use again. That’s what I do!

Valentine's Day Table SettingYou can dress up a simple, white tablecloth by placing a sheer, curtain panel in red over it and a runner to add more layers on the table. Red plate chargers (recycled from Christmas) can also give a whole new look to basic, white dinnerware, and you can finish it off by placing a salad plate in a contrasting color and, of course, a cloth napkin to reflect an elegant place setting.

Again, most of these items you might already have from your Christmas inventory, so you don’t have to go out and spend lots of money. Just give it a twist to reflect Happy Hearts Day. Remember, too, that roses can get quite expensive during this month if you purchase them directly from a florist, so I suggest you buy them at the grocery store, and simply cut the stems short creating a cluster effect inside a low vase.   You will have a beautiful presentation that requires fewer flowers – and it’s less expensive!

I promise you that if you take the extra time to set the mood for this special occasion, you’re also expressing to your other half how much you love them because you thought about every detail to make this an unforgettable evening.

In the end, the chocolates will be eaten, the flowers will become wilted, and whether you received diamonds or not, you can still make your dining table sparkle just as bright this Valentine’s Day… creating a memory that will be priceless!
