MARTIN's WORKSHOP

Spooky Curb Appeal

BY MARTIN AMADO ON SEPTEMBER 27TH, 2017

spookyI usually share tips that inspire you to make your home beautiful and stylish every month. However, in October we can have a little ghoulish fun and do completely the opposite with a spooky curb appeal project that will charm all those trick-or-treaters.

Of course, the door becomes the focal point when kids and kids-at-heart walk up to your home and you can create an eerie setting by framing it with cute pumpkin pedestals. I know, I said the word cute, but they are! It’s okay to place pumpkins on the floor, but why not elevate them for more drama by taking two black, plastic urns from the garden section and invert one on top of the other. If wind is not an issue in your city, you can leave as-is, but if you’re afraid they might topple over, apply construction adhesive around the edges to glue them together. Place your jack-o-lantern on top, which can be real or craft (i.e. fake) and surround the base with dried moss to complete the effect. I say this is an easy and spooktacular DIY project your entire family will enjoy making and all the witches and goblins will appreciate!
