DIY Feature Wall - Wood Plank

DIY Feature Wall - Wood PlankPaneling has come a long way. The word alone can conjure up images of a dated space where all the walls are covered with either real wood or a thin-like veneer, but I’m happy to report that the latter is now available in on-trend finishes such as reclaimed wood, brick, and more. It’s a great cosmetic and budget-friendly solution that can change the look of any room in less time than working with the real materials. We’re all familiar with the saying, “when you get lemons, you gotta make lemonade,” or something to that effect, so that’s exactly what I did in this classroom project to cover up an eye soar.

At a home improvement store, I purchased five 4’ x 8’ sheets of faux, wood plank paneling in a weathered gray finish to cover the wall, which can easily be installed with a nail gun or paneling nails. I then used 1” x 4” wood to disguise the seams between each of the panels and frame the feature wall. When completed, it became a stylish backdrop to the media console and a cool hang-out area for the students.

This project idea is very effective at giving you an on-trend design look for much less in any room of your home.
