DESIGN DETAIL: Grid Walls

DESIGN DETAIL: Grid Walls

BY MARTIN AMADO ON JUNE 26TH, 2019

Accent or feature walls can make a design statement in any room.  It can be achieved with different treatments such as paint, wallpaper or architectural molding. No matter what your preference, what’s nice about creating a feature wall is the costs are relatively low – compared to doing an entire room. This is why I love this project because you more bang for your buck!

In this teen bedroom, I created the grid as the focal point behind the bed using 1”x4” rustic pine wood.  The design is modern and bold and I love how the gray wood contrasts with the existing base color (putty) on the walls.  The best part is the entire project came in at less than $130. It’s an easy DIY project that anyone can do with basic tools such as a hammer, finish nails, and a miter box with a hand saw. The wood is pre-stained and available in different colors, which saves you a lot of time, too.
