MARTIN's WORKSHOP

Awwwesome Gift Wrapping!

BY MARTIN AMADO ON DECEMBER 12TH, 2016

Kids love finding big presents under the tree, but wrapping them can be quite a challenge. No need to stress this holiday season because I have a creative gift-wrapping solution for those large toys – such as this Imaginarium Train Table.

Begin by forming a ring around the base of the table using flexible lattice moulding strips, which you can purchase at any home improvement store. I attached two strips together using extremely strong mounting tape to give me the entire circumference. Then, I crisscrossed more lattice strips around the perimeter from one side to the other, again using mounting tape to secure them to the actual base ring. The lattice moulding comes in 8’ lengths and are easy to cut down with a miter box and saw if you wish to make your dome smaller.

Once you have the dome shape, proceed to cover each triangle of the dome with double-sided tape and gift wrapping paper. You can cut off the excess with a craft knife. Repeat this step for each triangle. You can cover up any imperfections cutting the gift wrapping paper by applying a decorative ribbon on each strip and around the base using more double-sided tape or a glue gun. Besides, I love the detail of the ribbon against the colorful paper – makes the gift even more special.

Finish the presentation with a big bow and custom gift tag … you can even fill the inside with balloons for an extra fun surprise. Make sure to have your camera ready to capture this exciting moment when your kids see what Santa left them under the tree on Christmas morning!
